Dr. Stephen J. Wall was born in Pennsylvania in 1963 and raised in the Philadelphia region. He completed his medical and doctoral degrees at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focused upon neurotransmitters involved in Alzheimer's disease, and communication pathways within tumor cells. During his training, he was awarded a Predoctoral Fellowship from the National Institutes of Health. In 1994, Dr. Wall received a Medical Student Excellence in Research Award from the American Federation for Clinical Research. An avid surgical historian, Dr. Wall was awarded the Dr. Charles W. Burris History of Medicine Prize in 1995.

His research on tumors prompted him to train in the medical specialty that manages cancers of the head and face regions. Dr. Wall trained at in Otorhinolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery- at the University of Pennsylvania. For each of the years of training, this program was ranked in the Top 10 nationally by the U.S. News and World Report Magazine Best Hospitals Issue. Dr. Wall then completed a prestigious fellowship at the University of Toronto in Facial Plastic Surgery with Dr. peter A. Adamson, MD, the President of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS).

In his career, Dr. Wall has authored more than twenty scientific papers, review articles and book chapters. He has served as an instructor at national meetings on Nasal Surgery. Dr. Wall is a member of the American Rhinologic Society and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
